Tech Time workshops are enrichment activities to promote student engagement with technology, coding, engineering and robotics in a safe and fun environment. Each workshop is focused on a specific topic with instructions to complete an objective or project. For example, a workshop may focus on coding the input, output and manipulation of data as students create a Mad Lib® story or the basics of programming a robot to have it draw a shape. Some workshops are for beginners with no prior experience or skill while other workshops require prerequisite experiences or skills to participate.
Although Tech Time workshops are instructor-led, it’s important to have a parent or guardian present and involved who can assist their student(s) through the instructions and provide encouragement to support a fun and engaging educational experience. Research from the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education shares that “no matter their income or background, students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school.”
