DATA WE COLLECT
Like most online service providers, through its computer systems Tech Journey collects non-personal data that web browsers and servers typically make available such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each request. Tech Journey’s purpose in collecting non-personal data is to better understand how Tech Journey’s website and computer systems are being used so that we may improve our services and programs. Tech Journey collects personal data like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and usernames for logged in users or for users leaving comments. Tech Journey only discloses logged in user IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below.
When users complete certain transactions with Tech Journey, we collect personal data that may include, but not be limited to, name, address, phone, child’s name and age and email address. The amount and type of information that Tech Journey gathers depends on the nature of the transaction. For example, additional personal information such as a credit card number is required to process a financial transaction. In each case, Tech Journey collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the interaction with Tech Journey. Tech Journey does not disclose personal data other than as described below.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Privacy is a component of Tech Journey’s commitment to youth protection and safety. As such, we do not collect the personal data of children under the age of 13 unless a child’s parent or legal guardian provides it to us through a transaction such as an activity registration. Consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), a parent may review or have deleted their child’s personal data, and prohibit its further collection or use. If you have a request in relation to the personal data of your child below the age of 13, please contact us.
CONSENT
When users provide us with personal data, we imply the user consents to our collecting it and using it for the specific reason or transaction in question. If we ask for personal data for a secondary reason, like marketing, we will either ask directly for expressed consent or provide an opportunity to opt out. Marketing consent, for example, results in the subscription to our contact list which we use to send marketing campaigns about our organization and it’s programs. We also may use your information to contact you directly. If after subscribing to our contact list and you change your mind, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.
DISCLOSURE
We may disclose a user’s personal information if we are required by law to do so. Furthermore, in certain circumstances, we may disclose personal information to a third party for the purpose of completing a transaction or carrying out Tech Journey’s mission. Examples include, but are not limited to, providing a list of activity participant names to enter a secured facility, using a payment gateway to process a donation or registration fee or provisioning a user account to a third party application.
Tech Journey may accumulate and report aggregate non-personal information for several purposes including, but not limited to, planning and evaluation of our programs or seeking funding opportunities.
SECURITY, INTEGRITY AND RETENTION
The security, integrity and confidentiality of user information is extremely important to us. We have implemented technical, administrative and physical security measures that are designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, use and modification. We follow generally accepted industry practices to protect the personal information submitted to us. From time to time, we review our security procedures to consider appropriate new technology and methods. Please be aware though that, despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.
