DES MOINES, IA – April 2023 – Tech Journey, a Des Moines based non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring central Iowa’s youth to increase their knowledge and interest in technology, is proud to celebrate its 10-year anniversary with a renewed commitment to diversity and inclusion. Over the past decade, Tech Journey has made significant strides towards its mission of empowering Iowa students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s technology-driven world.
Since its inception in 2013, Tech Journey has built a dedicated community of students who return year after year to deepen their knowledge and skills. With an average attendance of 100 students at their annual Tech Camp event, Tech Journey is proud to have fostered a lasting commitment to learning among Iowa’s brightest young minds. The organization has worked tirelessly to create an inclusive environment where all students have equal access to technology enrichment regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. This includes coding & robotics programs, workshops from technology professionals and computer science curricula. Through its innovative programs, Tech Journey has helped students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while also inspiring a passion for technology and STEM education, in turn creating more talent for the Iowa technology workforce.
“Tech Journey was founded with the belief that every student deserves access to technology enrichment,” said Tim Sieber, Executive Director of Tech Journey. “Over the past 10 years, we’ve seen firsthand how technology enrichment can transform the lives of students, now having past students working for Athene, Genvax Technologies, John Deere, Ruan, Zoom, and others. We’re proud to have played a role in helping these students succeed.”
To continue its mission of empowering Iowa students with technology enrichment, Tech Journey relies on the generosity of donors. The organization is proud of the support it has received from the Iowa community over the past decade, and it looks forward to continuing to secure donations that will help it expand its programs and impact even more students.
“None of this would be possible without the support of the tech leaders in our community,” said Martina Schubert, Vice-Chair of the Tech Journey Board and CTO of Coviance. “We’re grateful for their support over the past 10 years and look forward to continuing to work together to empower central Iowa students.”
As Tech Journey celebrates its 10-year anniversary, the organization looks forward to continuing to expand its programs and impact even more students. As Iowa is predicted to face a shortage of skilled workers in the tech industry, Tech Journey is dedicated to providing workforce readiness training to bridge the gap, particularly in underserved and underrepresented communities, creating a brighter future for Iowa’s youth and the tech industry.
